Can you provide me with an application fee waiver?

We never want the application fee to deter you from applying to Carolina. If you cannot afford the fee, you may submit a request through Common Application, NACAC, or College Board, or a letter from a school official on official letterhead sent to uncsubmit@admissions.unc.edu to have the fee waived.

If you are home schooled, the free waiver request letter must come from a non-family member.

If you’re applying to transfer to Carolina from another institution, please submit a NACAC Transfer Admission Application Fee Waiver with the appropriate supporting documentation found in the NACAC guidelines. We’re also glad to waive the fee if you’re an active duty member or veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces; just indicate your active duty or veteran status on your application, and we’ll take care of it.

Unfortunately, we are unable to waive the application fee for non-U.S. citizens. The only exception is for non-U.S. citizens who are graduating from a North Carolina high school.
